What is Wedge?

Wedge Communications LLC

Wedge was formed in March 2011 by W. Gill Woodall, PhD, David Buller, PhD, and Erwin Bettinghaus, PhD. We specialize in the transfer of technology from university and other government-sponsored research into the marketplace. Wedge Communications LLC was organized in the State of Nevada. It is a member managed LLC.

W.Gill Woodall, PhD

is a Senior Scientist at Klein Buendel, Inc. and Professor Emeritus of Communication and Journalism. Formerly, Dr. Woodall was a Senior Scientist in the Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse and Addictions at the University of New Mexico. He is an expert in the prevention of alcohol-related problems including driving under the influence and binge drinking. He has led projects creating novel online programs to prevent binge drinking by college students and to provide training in responsible beverage service, resulting in the Way To Serve training program licensed and marketed by Wedge Communications.

David B. Buller, PhD

is Senior Scientist and Director of Research at Klein Buendel, Inc., a health communication and media development firm in Golden, Colorado. Dr. Buller has extensive experience creating programs to prevent cancer and other chronic disease for children and adults, delivered over the newest online and mobile technologies. Dr. Buller led the research to develop a mobile application for smart phones that enhances a text messaging system to help smokers quit, which was commercialized by Wedge Communications in the State of Colorado as Colorado Quit Mobile. Dr. Buller also led research to develop a responsible vendor training program for the recreational adult-use cannabis industry. Klein Buendel’s designers and programmers produced the Way To Serve online training.

Erwin Bettinghaus, PhD

is a Senior Scientist at Klein Buendel. Formerly the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University, Erv has a long history in the development and testing of programs to prevent cancer. He has been especially interested in in the development of community based tobacco cessation programs. His other interests in cancer prevention led to an appointment to the National Cancer Advisory Board at the National Cancer Institute.
